PM Mickoski Participates in Euronews EU Enlargement Summit

The EU path is paved with challenges, but the country’s determined to do its homework, PM Hristijan Mickoski assessed in the frames of the Euronews EU Enlargement Summit, held in Brussels on Tuesday.

He is nonetheless optimistic that the EU will valorise work done. Mickoski stated that regarding his country, instead of the Copenhagen criteria, there were artificial conditions by Bulgaria.

“But let’s do our homework. Let’s finish our homework. Let’s create a good environment. Let’s bring back home youngsters and let’s develop something that will be good for them. And let’s deliver homework that will impress the EU. And maybe, then, someone from the EU will say, ‘Enough is enough. Let’s do something for them.’ Otherwise, this is damaging our values and, practically, this does not have a future”, the PM noted.

At the Summit, European Council President Antonio Costa stated that enlargement was a priority he deeply believed in.

“Accession partners must decide if they have that determination to move forward with their European Union transformation or if they prefer to remain trapped by painful historical legacies. The European Union must also decide whether it can afford to lose more time, and if it is ready to evolve and adapt to the current geopolitical realities. It is my strong belief that Europe must not become a museum of past prosperity”, he underlined.
