“I am surprised by what I heard publicly because I didn’t have a meeting with Bulgaria’s caretaker PM”, PM Hristijan Mickoski said on Friday, asked whether he and Dimitar Glavchev had discussed Skopje’s EU path.
According to the PM, they only had a brief conversation as they were leaving and after the end of the EU-Western Balkans summit. Regarding Glavchev, Mickoski said he had a good opinion about him and even though he had been active at working sessions, that hadn’t been the case at the summit.
“Simply, after the end of the working session, if that can be considered a meeting, while I was leaving, he greeted me and told me that I had a great performance, a great speech and that the relations between the two countries should be built on that. I responded to that by saying, ‘Great, lift the barrier soon, let us negotiate.’ To that, I received a response, ‘Well, you know, in our Parliament, everyone is against you.’ There, that’s approximately how the conversation went down”, Mickoski stressed.
According to the PM, who was in Brussels to, as he said, present the country’s positions, he didn’t receive a counter-argument regarding them at meetings with EU heads.
