PM: Presidential and Parliamentary Elections to Be Held Separately

The presidential and parliamentary elections will be held separately, PM Dimitar Kovacevski said on Thursday, adding that, ultimately, all parties had agreed on that.

In his view, the working group in Parliament only needs to agree on the dynamism of the election process. Regarding the visit European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will pay to North Macedonia towards the end of the month, Kovacevski said it didn’t represent pressure on the opposition regarding the constitutional changes process.

On the other hand, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski’s position is that if there is a meeting with the European Commission President, he will be ready to discuss the country’s integration path, but not the “Bulgarian conditions”.

He accepts regular elections. However, Mickoski considers that the parliamentary elections and the second round of the presidential election should be held simultaneously, on 8 May.
