PM: Several Other Suspected Systemic Corruption Cases Being Monitored

Following the bribery cases involving Customs Administration Assistant Director Xhever Imeri and the driver of the Government’s Secretary General, PM Mickoski has revealed that several other cases suspected of systemic corruption within institutions are currently being monitored.

Answering a journalist’s question on Saturday, he did not specify the exact number of cases or the sectors involved, but emphasized that such corrupt practices throughout institutions had to be eradicated.

Imeri, who has been issued a detention measure, was caught accepting a bribe on Thursday. According to the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office, between April/May and September of this year, using his official position, he asked for and received a total of 17,500 euros on multiple occasions. After taking the money, he attempted to flee from the police, but was swiftly caught and arrested.
