Regarding the EC’s 2026 Rule of Law Report on North Macedonia, SDSM has said what the party has been saying for months — that Mickoski and VMRO-DPMNE exert systemic pressure on the judiciary and the Prosecutor’s Office, and that corruption goes unpunished — has been confirmed.
Levica, too, has leveled accusations at Mickoski, saying the EC doesn’t describe several isolated weaknesses, but rather a system in which corruption remains widespread. On the other hand, Mickoski believes that the document contains both positive evaluations and criticism.
“Out of all reports so far, this is the best Report for us as a country. It is not ideal, there are remarks, but there is also a lot of praise for the projects and policies being implemented”, he noted.
However, he added that the Government would not approve additional funds for the judiciary and the Prosecutor’s Office, underlining that judges and prosecutors hadn’t earned that.
