Potential Location for National Data Center Selected

A potential location for the National Data Center has been selected. The facility will most likely be built near the Skopje 1 and 2 Technological-Industrial Development Zones, on a plot of infertile land with sufficient space for the potential construction of a photovoltaic power plant.

Minister of Digital Transformation Andonovski says the location meets the key conditions — proximity to Skopje, a highway, a fiber-optic line, and the Zones. The construction will cost 20 million euros, 70% and 30% of which are foreseen for the building and the equipment, respectively.

State funds will be used for the project, but it also includes a 30% grant component. The Government is currently seeking an international financier. Although talks were held with the World Bank, according to Andonovski, it will not be able to finance the project due to incompatibility with EU requirements.
