President Pendarovski Meets European Commission President

In the frames of her visit to Skopje, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a meeting on Sunday with President Stevo Pendarovski.

They discussed North Macedonia’s EU negotiations process, relevant political developments in the country, and current situation in the region. In that regard, information was exchanged about the further stages of the negotiations, after the end of the screening process, as well as about the dynamism of reform implementation, Pendarovski’s Cabinet said in the press-release.

The meeting saw a discussion also on the Commission’s upcoming progress report on North Macedonia, as well as on the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. In that regard, Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the EU’s support and commitment regarding the enlargement policy and integration of the Western Balkans.

Pendarovski and the Commission’s President exchanged views about the strategic importance of making the constitutional changes and the further implications on the country’s European perspective.
