President Siljanovska Davkova Comments on Judicial Council Issue

According to President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the Judicial Council issue is a result of the bad Law on the institution because it doesn’t include appropriate criteria to elect members.

That, she added on Tuesday, enables politicisation and partisanship.

The President’s stand is that it doesn’t concern only those elected upon a nomination of hers, but also, of those elected by Parliament and with regards to judges. A process to adopt a new law started following the peer-review mission, which is already in procedure, she underlined.

Though member Milazim Mustafa’s term is expiring on 9 July, the President will not nominate a successor until the adoption of the new law.
