President Siljanovska Davkova Delivers Annual Address to Parliament

On Tuesday, in her annual address to Parliament, President Siljanovska Davkova called for national consensus over the EU path. In that regard, she said the problem was not just administrative, i.e. it was related to the constitutional changes matter, which was a political criterion. The President believes clear guarantees are needed from the EU and Bulgaria.

Regarding the Kochani fire, she stated that everyone would carry the trauma, while the nightclub tragedy had brought to the surface the disorderly decision-making, lack of systemic culture, and impunity. In that regard, the President underlined what she said was a need for deep re-examination.

She called on parties and politicians to stop everyday accusations over the trial.

The legal process, Siljanovska underlined, will show whether the judiciary will get the trust of citizens or lose that permanently. In that regard, the President said it was no coincidence that negotiations with the EU started and ended over the topic of judiciary.
