The Public Revenue Office (PRO) has been taking measures following allegations that inspectors of the institution would warn the Pulse nightclub’s bosses about potential control activities in exchange for gifts, the PRO told Telma on Monday regarding IRL’s documentary on the Pulse nightclub fire, headlined “KOCANI – Our Moral Compromise”.
The documentary shows communication, provided by a whistleblower, between inspectors and the son of nightclub owner Dejan Jovanov. According to IRL, one of those inspectors is the brother of Daniela Dimovska, Acting President of the Criminal Court, where the trial will be held.
“Regarding information published by media, the PRO informs that proper activities have been being taken to secure relevant evidence related to the published allegations, including the potential involvement of said tax servants in other similar activities. The PRO is taking measures directed at these official persons in order to prevent any potential harmful impact on the PRO. The PRO will cooperate and act in an aligned fashion with all relevant institutions in order for the case to be fully and objectively solved and for the institution’s integrity to be protected”, it said.
Also on Monday, asked about the documentary, SDSM leader Venko Filipce stated that the government had done everything to protect its officials in order for them not to be covered by the case. According to him, had it not been for his party’s press-conferences, a big part of the suspects wouldn’t even be covered by the indictment proposal.
