Prosecutor’s Office Closes Ramadani and Pajaziti Cases

The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption has closed the case concerning the escape of ex-KLA member Blerim Ramadani.

Following an order by prosecutors, police checked footage from cameras at the Blace and Jazince crossings, and analysed documents from the Bit Pazar Police Station, which had the competence with regards to the control of Ramadani, who was under house arrest at the home of relatives in Skopje.

However, they found no evidence that he left the country at the crossings, nor did they determine that police or Customs Administration officers were responsible for the escape.

The Islam Abazi-headed institution has also closed the other case, that is, the one in which it was investigating Judge Pajazit Pajaziti, who first issued a detention measure against Ramadani and then replaced that with a house arrest one. According to the Office, in the frames of its activities, it was found there was no suspicion that the Judge had committed any crime.

At the start of the month, the Judicial Council fined Pajaziti, that is, he will get 70% of his salary over a six-month period. There were not enough votes for him to be dismissed.
