Rapporteur Waitz has called on North Macedonia’s authorities to use the positive enlargement momentum in the EU.
At Thursday’s presentation of his draft report on the country before the AFET Committee, he called for urgent political will to resolve the constitutional changes-related halt.
Reforms in the rule of law, the judiciary, and the fight against corruption are insufficient, but, according to Waitz, that is the result of last year’s elections. Bulgarian MEPs stated that instead of looking for a way to bypass assumed obligations, North Macedonia should urgently make the constitutional changes.
