Regarding the Constitutional Court’s abolition of the Balancer tool, Public Administration Minister Goran Mincev said on Thursday his institution implemented the decisions’ contents, not commenting on them.
According to him, the ruling coalition has the political capacity to start dialogue for a proper solution to be found that would be in line with the Constitution. However, in Mincev’s view, a broad and public debate, not rushing, is what’s needed.
No employee will be fired, the Minister also stressed. However, he added that incompetent staff would be part of re-education activities and assigned to proper jobs.
Asked to comment on MP Halil Snopce’s statement that VLEN already had prepared a draft version of the equitable representation law, the Minister said he didn’t want to comment on something he hadn’t seen. However, he added again that he didn’t want rushed solutions.
The same day, VLEN co-leader Arben Taravari said the draft-law was prepared and will be processed within Parliament. Also on Thursday, regarding DUI’s criticism of the Court’s decision, VMRO-DPMNE said Ali Ahmeti’s party was being hypocritical.
“DUI is now levelling criticism. However, when it was in power, last year, it adopted a Government act saying the Balancer is misused in practice. VMRO-DPMNE agrees with the European Commission’s reports saying the tool may undermine the principle of merit-based employments and impact independence of institutions,” the ruling party stated.
