Reactions to Attack on Infomax Premises Continue

The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has requested detention measure and psychiatric investigation for the man who intruded on Wednesday night the premises of the new web portal Infomax, during the live broadcast of the podcast “Teshki Muabeti (Difficult Talks)”.

As the authorities inform, the man intruded the studio by breaking several doors, and addressed death threats to two journalists and the podcast guest, namely because they have presented criticism against PM Hristijan Mickoski, which the attacker interpreted as offense to Mickoski’s person and deeds.

The Agency for Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services (AVMU) condemned the attack, stating that attacks of this nature are direct assault over the freedom of the media and the rights of the journalists to do their job unobstructed, and called upon the institutions of the state to immediately investigate and resolve this case.

From DUI they also condemned the attack, voicing deep concern over the freedom of the media in North Macedonia, deeming every form of attempt for intimidation or attack over the media and the media workers as unacceptable for a democratic society.
