Chair Municipality’s Council has received an initiative, submitted by DUI, to rename streets after National Liberation Army (NLA) fighters. If passed, Jaja Pasha and Flaka e Vlazrimit Streets will be renamed after Commander Teli and Zeqirija Hasani.
The Municipality told Kanal 5 on Friday it was about a draft decision, not a final one. There is no answer as to whether there was a Badinter majority, as required by law.
However, according to SDSM, the names have already been changed without compliance with the Badinter majority principle, which has been done with approval from VMRO-DPMNE. The goal, in its view, is to incite interethnic tensions in Chair.
In Tetovo, the protest march organized by DUI over the street names in that city was held on Saturday. It ended in front of the Tetovo Municipality building.
