Reactions to Evro-Kom Factory Fire Continue

Commenting on the Evro-Kom factory fire, Eco Guerilla called on Thursday on authorities to conduct controls and check whether there was compliance with all safety measures provided for such companies.

Four fire-fighters that were part of the activities to put the fire under control received medical help in a hospital in Tetovo for breathing problems caused by the thick smoke. Environment Minister Kaja Sukova, said paint and lacquers were organic matters.

“The country doesn’t have a laboratory to measure evaporation of organic pollutants. Such companies don’t fall under the A and B integrated permits system. However, they have to have a study, which requires consent from the Municipality,” the Minister explained.

14 tonnes of paint, lacquer, and other types of chemicals have burnt down in the fire, according to latest information.
