Reactions to Mihajlov’s Appointment and Dimova Case Continue

On Wednesday, SDSM again asked questions about the appointment of Ana Mihajlov as Acting Director of the National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility.

According to the opposition party, Mihajlov should present information about her activities from 2014 to 2017, as well as about the grounds on which tenders would be awarded.

On the other hand, VMRO-DPMNE said that if there had been anything unlawful, SDSM, during its term as the ruling party from 2017 to 2024, could have taken a series of activities. Also, it pointed again to the case of ex-Agency Director Lidija Dimova.

However, Dimova herself stated that instead of focusing on Mihajlov, parties were still mentioning her name and the “absurd” manner in which she’d been dismissed.

“Instead of there being talk of the current Acting Director, it is me, Lidija Dimova, that’s the topic, even though I haven’t had influence within the Agency since 2020. While I was dismissed quickly, with an absurd excuse of ‘training of donkeys and funding of hairdressing salons’, the criminal charge I have filed is still smouldering at a pre-investigation stage.

However, OLAF acted upon my charge and got 2.2 million euros back from the Macedonian budget. Let me just remind that I have received notification in writing from OLAF that OLAF doesn’t have any findings against me! The persons over whom It has findings “progress” in an accelerated manner, while the Prosecutor’s Office has been at the pre-investigation stage for six years already”, she stated.

The Dimova case is at the final stage, while a court decision is expected on 3 September. The Office said it was also acting upon other cases related to abuse of EU funds. When it comes to Mihajlov, SDSM called on institutions to consider her relation to her god-daughter, Dorina Gjorceva Mitrevska.
