Reactions to Personal Documents Problem Continue

The draft-changes aiming to extend the validity of passports containing the previous constitutional name until 31 December 2024, as in the case with the driving licences, submitted by VMRO-DPMNE, have been in Parliament for around 10 days.

Hristijan Mickoski’s party has explained that they are still being translated, calling, however, for them to be put up for a vote and for the ruling majority, too, to support them.

According to the opposition, that would overcome the “chaos” over the personal documents. On the other hand, SDSM’s stand is that the draft-changes only aim to mislead the public.

“The obligation to replace passports arises from the Prespa Agreement, an already ratified deal that cannot be changed through a law,” the ruling party has pointed out.
