Representation Bill: Bendevska Says There’s no Violation of Rules of Procedure

The Equitable Representation Bill has again sparked accusations in Parliament. At the session on Thursday, opposition MPs from the ethnic Albanian political bloc got into an argument with Deputy Speaker and ZNAM MP Vesna Bendevska, criticizing her for not putting the text to a vote after the conclusion of the debate, asking why she had instead moved on to the next item on the agenda.

For several hours, they were speaking by using the option for procedural remarks as the only tool to voice their stance that the Bill, as they underlined, is being bypassed due to the absence of VLEN MPs, whose presence was required for the final vote.

Bendevska said she was not violating the Rules of Procedure. According to her, the exact date and hour of the vote will be determined by Speaker Afrim Gashi. In that regard, Bendevska reiterated the practice had also been used during Talat Xhaferi’s term as Speaker.
