The Interior Ministry has started the test period of the Safe City project. Cameras are automatically registering traffic offenses, after which they notify the person who committed the offense.
In the period until New Year’s, only warnings will be issued, i.e. fines will be introduced on January 1, 2026. Cameras are registering offenses such as speeding, running a yellow or red light, misparked vehicles, but also expired driving licenses.
The following stage of the project, according to plans, will be expanded to cover other types of offenses as well. Interior Minister Toshkovski’s Cabinet said 65,000 offenses had been registered in the first 12 hours of the test period.
