The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) has identified several corruption-related regulatory risks in the Law on Financing Political Parties and recommended amendments to address them. The review was conducted on the commission’s own initiative as part of its 2026 anti-corruption plan for reviewing legislation, SCPC President Adem Cucul said.
“The commission recommends reviewing the provision governing the distribution of state budget funds to political parties. It is legitimate to question whether the current distribution is proportional and whether it provides fair and equal opportunities to all participants”, Cucul said.
The SCPC also recommended strengthening rules on party membership fees by introducing preventive mechanisms and sanctions for exceeding legal limits.
