Nobody has so far submitted Bojan Hristovski’s TOEFL certificate that the new Agency for National Security Director submitted to the Faculty of Security. Therefore, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) is unable to take action to decide whether he meets the conditions to hold the position.
“The procedure is underway. Steps are being taken to get the required documentation to determine the factual situation. Deadlines to secure that are underway,” the SCPC said on Monday.
The 15-day deadline expires on 13 November. Regarding the trials in which a Debar hospital head and education sector employee were sentenced over fake TOEFL certificates, Prizma.mk has reported that those documents, as suspicious, were discovered during an investigation opened two years ago against Administration Agency employees.
The employees, according to the report, were not involved in the process to get fake TOEFL documents, that is, they would exchange information to get money from candidates, while, in that regard, they would mention language certificates.
According to the verdict cited by Prizma.mk, fake certificates would be “ordered” either in Skopje or Struga. In the case in question, prosecutors have taken action over two anonymous tips and carried out pre-investigative procedures. However, considering the current stage, it cannot share details, the Prosecutor’s Office has pointed out.
The institution hasn’t revealed whether international legal aid has been requested from Bulgaria, considering Hristovski’s certificate was issued by the Julia centre in Plovdiv.
