SDSM Holds Congress, Filipche Reaffirms Support for Party Leadership

SDSM held Saturday a party congress, at which, behind closed doors, the top management of the party adopted the report over the 2025 local election. Party leader Venko Filipche, in his central address, reaffirmed confidence in the party leadership.

In his speech at the congress, Filipche said that the party faces criticism, but added that it comes from party members that, according to him, have colluded with the ruling parties motivated by personal benefits. He highlighted the disappointment of grassroots supporters who had backed former officials now critical of the party, portraying current members as sincere and committed.

After this, he went on to accuse the government lead by VMRO-DPMNE of causing a diplomatic isolation of the country. From VMRO-DPMNE they issued a press release over the congress.

“Filipche rushed to address accusations at the government, but still, he continues to fail to distance himself from the criminals and the criminal activities within his party, especially from his predecessor and mentor Zoran Zaev”, they react from VMRO-DPMNE.

SDSM’s Slavjanka Petrovska reacted after the congress via Facebook, underlining that if the party does not change soon, it may as well disappear.
