SDSM is ready to support every improved position the Government will manage to secure with regards to the EU path being unblocked, the leader of the party, Venko Filipce, said after his meeting on Tuesday with President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova.
According to him, the meeting was held in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. As Filipce said, there was an attempt by the previous, SDSM-led cabinet, too, for a deferred effect of the constitutional changes, that is, them entering into force once the country joined the EU, but the proposal was rejected by the then-Bulgarian cabinet.
“I expect the opposition to be included in the further talks aiming to unblock integration,” he added.
The SDSM leader also said he’d initiated the meeting because of the concern over the particisation of security services, adding that he’d warned the President over the risk of a potential merger between the Agency for National Security and Intelligence Agency.
The President’s Cabinet, too, issued a press-release, saying Siljanovska Davkova had conveyed her views on the EU path and potential solutions regarding a start of negotiations. Special emphasis was placed on the security situation in the country, it added. This was the first meeting between opposition leader Filipce and President Siljanovska Davkova.
