SDSM to Support No-Confidence Motion against PS Gashi

SDSM informed today, after a meeting between party leader Venko Filipce and the MP group of SDSM, that they will support the no confidence motion in the Parliament against Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi.

“In only two months since they assumed offices, there were series of scandals with the government headed by VMRO-DPMNE, and no one faced responsibility. Such is the case with PS Afrim Gashi with his involvement in the Skopje airport incident where he sent a security guard to threaten a police officer.

When the Interior Ministry located responsibility within the body guard, they indirectly located it within Gashi too. However, VMRO-DPMNE did nothing about this, after which Gashi was involved in another scandal, where he used official vehicles to go to a private engagement, a wedding in Kosovo. There must be political responsibility, which is why we decided to support this motion,” they stated from SDSM.

PS Gashi said in an interview for Sitel that the no-confidence motion debate scheduled for Tuesday is reflection of the democracy and democratic processes in the state.

“I am aware that this is all done because of trivial things blown out of proportion via the social networks, but I am ready to face the public and to do my job, my duty as Parliament Speaker,” Gashi said.

The Parliament is expected to process on Tuesday 3 September the no-confidence motion filed by the MP group of Levica.
