The State Electoral Commission (SEC) informed on Sunday that the period for registration of candidates for the upcoming local election this October has officially ended on Saturday night.
SEC has officially received 312 candidacies for mayors, as well as 575 lists of municipal council members candidates, in all 80 municipalities in the country and the City of Skopje.
SEC and the municipal electoral boards will now inspect the candidacies and the lists, and will publish the final number of candidates in the following days. The 2025 local election is scheduled to take place on 19 October, and the second round of it will take place on 2 November.
