Siljanovska Davkova Urges EU Meritocracy in Salzburg

President Siljanovska Davkova is participating in the 22nd Salzburg Europe Summit, where she delivered an address to the session “Is Europe (Still) a Global Player?”.

She stressed that the integration of the Western Balkans represented a pivotal test of the EU’s strategic strength. The President recalled that her country had been a candidate for membership for 21 years, with 17 positive reports and complete alignment with European foreign policy.

Nonetheless, as she pointed out, no other European state has borne such a heavy burden in the integration process. According to Siljanovska Davkova, compelling a country to change its domestic legal framework to resolve a historical dispute raises serious questions regarding the consistency of European principles.
