During the adoption of laws, parliamentarians have used the shortened procedure mechanism in continuity, which creates a perception among the public that they are corrupt and make decisions on the basis of a political pattern, according to the Societas Civilis Democracy Institute.
From 1 January to April of this year, 66 draft-laws proposed by parliamentarians were adopted and became laws through the shortened procedure.
In 2024, just 105 of 314 draft-laws had been submitted by MPs, which means there hadn’t been assessments regarding regulations and anti-corruption. The Institute’s Misa Popovic said on Thursday that what was needed was more oversight debates at Parliament instead of a rise in political polarization.
