When it comes the report on the telephone communication of Mihail Jovanov, son of the Pulse nightclub in Kocani, revealed recently by whistleblowers and made public in IRL’s documentary on the Kocani fire, according to Plusinfo, regarding communication with the State Market Inspectorate and police, names of prominent ex-officials were left out.
According to the portal, on 17 February 2022, Mihail Jovanov called a certain Bojana to notify her that then-Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski had been calling police in Stip to pull wires in relation to problems caused by Kocani’s police for the nightclub and to ask for that many control activities not to be conducted. However, he denied that had been the case, telling Kanal 5 that he had never made such calls.
“The fact that there were controls everywhere is the greatest confirmation of that. These manipulations are a desperate attempt by VMRO-DPMNE for a final exploitation of the Kocani tragedy before the elections, after the public has found out precisely officials of VMRO-DPMNE from all echelons were involved in the case”, he stressed.
In the meantime, Prosecutor-General Ljupco Kocevski has sent a letter to the Bar Chamber, saying some attorneys, publicly, comment on the charge in the Kocani fire case and present assessments on how long the court procedure will list even though they are not familiar with the content of the charge, evidence material, or planned dynamism of hearings.
He notes that that is in contradiction with the professional ethics of attorneys.
“Presenting unfounded assessments in terms of the court procedure’s long duration harms the Court’s reputation and represents an attempt to portray it as slow and inefficient even through the trial hasn’t even started”, Kocevski writes.
However, the Chamber stated that it was yet to receive the letter. Its head, Ljubomir Mihajlovski, pointed out that though he had found out about the matter from media, the Chamber was waiting for the official text.
“The Chamber will respond to the allegations, but we first want to see the document’s entire content”, he underlined.
Saturday saw a new March of Angels held in Kocani. Parents whose children were killed in the 16 March nightclub fire stated that there would be protests every day in order for justice to be “woken up”.
“We will not allow this process to be stalled. It’s been seven months, but nobody has wondered how we, the parents, feel”, it was pointed out.
On Sunday, the parents started a one-hour blockade of the roundabout in Kocani, near the double bridge on Stevo Teodosievski Street.
