Parliament is facing a Badinter majority problem, Speaker Gashi has confirmed. Around 10 bills have remained stalled due to the inability to secure the double majority. On Monday, Gashi maintained that efforts were underway to overcome differences through dialogue. However, no concrete solution is currently in sight, he added.
Due to the absence of a Badinter majority, Gashi is currently not putting up for a vote the bills on fair representation, higher education, and local self-government, even though they passed the full committee procedure a long time ago. Also, Gashi defended his position on the Hague verdict against the four former KLA leaders stressing that the stance was personal and that he believed he had a right to express it.
Regarding the Electoral Code issue, the Speaker said that it had been discussed during the coordination meeting with Parliamentary Groups earlier that day.
Gashi is also still awaiting nominations from political parties to establish the inquiry committee tasked with looking into the Kochani, Tetovo hospital, Laskarci, and Besa Trans tragedies.
