On the occasion of North Macedonia’s Independence Day 8- September, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi on Friday delivered a speech celebrating 34 years of statehood.
Among other things, Gashi underlined that independence is not a gift but a solemn vow—a foundation for building a just, democratic, and inclusive society. Acknowledging the country’s complex history, the Parliament Speaker praised its current peace and unity, calling for deeper solidarity that respects diversity and transforms differences into strength.
He highlighted the nation’s role as a stable NATO ally and EU candidate, urging citizens to take responsibility for fostering justice, meritocracy, and prosperity. Quoting Abraham Lincoln, he concluded with a call to shape the future together.
