According to Statistics Office data, inflation in March of this year increased by 4.9% when compared to the same month last year. The increase of retail prices is at a level of 3.4%. The Trade Union Federation, which will stage a new protest for higher salaries on May 1, has said the state should have passed measures by now.
On Tuesday, its President, Trendafilov, called for that to be done immediately in order to, as he noted, protect consumers. PM Mickoski, however, said there would be potentially targeted measures after Orthodox Easter.
“I am talking here about certain products, basic food products, and those measures would be combined with a reduction in VAT, but also with a limitation on the profit margin”, he noted.
However, SDSM MP Jovanka Trenchevska said citizens were paying the price of Mickoski’s incompetence.
