Statute of Limitations over Illegal Wire-Tapping Expire for Mijalkov and Others

As a result of the Criminal Code changes, the statute of limitations over illegal wire- tapping in the Target-Fortress case have expired for ex-secret police chief Saso Mijalkov, former intelligence agent Goran Grujevski, who’s at large, Nadica Nikolic, Vladimir Varelov, Marijan Sumulikoski, and Vasil Isakovski.

The costs of the carrying out of the criminal process will be covered by the Budget. On 16 February 2021, the Criminal Court reached a combined prison and suspended sentence of 55 and 10 years respectively, against 11 persons.

For the second part of the charge, Fortress, which concerns the destruction of the wire-tapping equipment, the process will continue.

Ex-PM Nikola Gruevski, former Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska, the aforementioned Grujevski, another ex-intelligence agent who’s at large, Nikola Boskovski, and Toni Jakimovski are covered in that part.

There is also one person tried for document falsification, Valentina Nikolovska.
