VMRO-DPMNE has alleged that SDSM and Levica are jointly blocking the draft Electoral Code, with the low ratings of both parties being the reason for that. At a press conference on Tuesday, the ruling party’s Spokesperson, Manasievski, stated that there had been negotiations on the text for months, which had seen VMRO-DPMNE accept all proposals from SDSM and Levica.
“The only thing we requested was for our diaspora to be able to vote electronically starting with the very next presidential elections”, he stated.
The same day, Sloboden Pechat reported that two meetings had been held behind closed doors among Parliamentary Group Coordinators on the matter. However, it added that there was no optimism that an agreement would be reached. A new meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (July 1).
