Stojanoski and SDSM Say Citizens will not Lose Constitutional Right to Protest

If the draft-law to declare the 1.5-hectare area around Parliament’s building a protected zone is adopted, selling that surface will be prohibited.

According to documents obtained by Kanal 5, 11 Oktomvri Street, outside Parliament, where protests are held, will not be covered by the zone, that is, the protected area will include the asphalted area leading to the Army Home, the meadow behind the building of the legislative house, and a part outside the building’s entrance.

A multi-story car park was supposed to be built on the land parcel where the meadow is located, but that process has been stopped for a long time.

VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanoski stated that it was only about categorising the area, not about limiting any constitutional right of citizens related to protests. SDSM, too, said citizens wouldn’t be deprived of that right.
