Strategy for Cooperation between North Macedonia and WHO Presented

The Ministry of Health and the Skopje-based office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) presented Wednesday the first Strategy for Cooperation between North Macedonia and WHO for the period 2026-2030.

Health Minister Azir Aliu said that this document defines the direction in which the healthcare system in the country will develop.

“The Ministry of Health continues to actively work on main priorities: digitalisation, transparency and accountability before the citizens, and a proper and just healthcare system that functions in the interest of all citizens, in which healthcare is not a privilege. We are about to start the implementation of the National Action plan for Healthcare Security, so that our country is prepared for eventual new pandemics, through increased and rational investments in the healthcare sector and reduction of the financial participation of the citizens”, Aliu said.

WHO Representative for North Macedonia, Dr. Akeem Ali said that the country is facing certain challenges, but added that institutions demonstrate will to implement reforms.
