Residents of Gostivar are expected to receive technically safe water for use as early as tomorrow (Monday, July 27), PM Mickoski said on Sunday, highlighting that the crisis was being resolved in a record timeframe of one week.
According to him, although the management of the water supply network falls under the direct competence of local authorities, the Government immediately intervened on the ground by providing humanitarian donations of bottled water and deploying expert teams from Skopje’s Water Supply Public Enterprise to perform hyper-chlorination on the pipeline.
However, SDSM continued its criticism of the Government regarding the water contamination issue. In that regard, it pointed to Health Minister Klekovski’s comments that a 3-4 day slowdown in the early warning system had been registered when it came to the initial notifications about the infections in Gostivar.
