Toplik Case: Annulment Results in Absolute Expirations Statute of Limitations

Three days before the seventh anniversary of the opening of the Toplik case, the Court of Appeals annulled the verdict, which has resulted in absolute expiration of the statute of limitations over the process which concerns the Sun City area.

As a result of the Court’s ruling, the six convicted people, including ex-Transport and Communications Minister Mile Janakieski, at a retrial, will not face prosecution because according to the Criminal Code changes, the statute of limitations expired in February. The Court’s ruling was reached on 6 September, the same day when the changes were adopted.
