52-year-old Besim Sherifi, a resident of Kopanica (Saraj), who was hiding for a longer period of time in Tirana and using fake personal documents under the name of a Kosovan citizen, has been arrested, Albanian police have said.
Sherifi is a triple murder suspect in North Macedonia. According to Albania’s police, following several-month-long searches and investigations, the suspect was located in the Suvo Ezero (Dry Lake) area, while he was arrested with the goal being extradition.
The checks showed that Sherifi was wanted on an international warrant issued by INTERPOL Skopje, following the detention measure issued by the Criminal Court in 2007. According to relevant organs, Sherifi is suspected of the 5 October, 2007, murder of three people in Kopanica village.
