Tsar Samuel Remains Issue: Mickoski Points to Bled Agreement

On Saturday in Skopje, asked by journalists about the ceremony in Sofia marking Greece’s handover of the mortal remains believed to be Tsar Samuel’s to Bulgaria, PM Mickoski stated that the matter should be viewed through the prism of the Bled Agreement: He said it had been reached immediately after the capitulation of fascist Bulgaria, which had “occupied the territory of present-day Macedonia” during WWII.

“As for the transfer of relics, I would go back several decades to when the mortal remains of the Macedonian giant Goce Delchev were brought to Skopje as a result of that Bled Agreement. And that is something that should make us proud as Macedonians, because the remains of that giant, who was ahead of his time, symbolize a great deal for Macedonian identity”, Mickoski noted.
