The Tetovo-based Union of Fighters from the National Liberation Struggle has submitted to the Coordinators of Parliamentary Groups of parties representing the ethnic Macedonian political bloc, VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, Levica, and ZNAM, a request to explicitly prohibit, through legal amendments, the naming of streets, squares, bridges, and other infrastructure facilities after figures or organizations associated with fascism, Nazism, and terrorism.
It requests that a procedure be started to change the Law on Determining Names of Streets, Squares, Bridges, and Other Infrastructure Facilities.
As the Union explains, the request is appropriate and complementary to the changes made to the legislation concerning associations and foundations dated November 8, 2022, when a legal filter was established to prevent the registration of Bulgarian pro-fascist clubs across the country.
