VLEN Proposes Constitutional Amendment over Political Corruption

According to VLEN, there should be a constitutional amendment over all political corruption cases, not vetting.

Spokesperson Fari Hiseni said on Friday he was calling on DUI MPs to say whether they would sign VLEN’s initiative for a constitutional mechanism that would cover all elected and named officials in the three branches of power that had acquired illicit property benefit by abusing office.

“The proposal is for laws to be able to apply retroactively also in cases related to the expiration of the statute of limitations when it comes to criminal liability regarding abuse committed by elected and named officials in the practice of public authorisations, which caused harm to public funds and budget funds centrally and locally, and which resulted in illicit property benefit being acquired through such abuses,” Hiseni explained.
