VLEN Says Drin Ahmeti’s been Spotted in Rolls-Royce, DUI Leader’s Nephew Accuses Coalition of Lying

VLEN has continued its criticism of DUI leader Ali Ahmeti’s nephew, Drin Ahmeti. In its press-release on Thursday, it also alluded to the video showing ex-Security and Counterintelligence Administration head Saso Mijalkov getting out of a Ferrari in Monaco.

“Crime and corruption know no ethnic affiliation, which is also the case with luxury. Mijalkov is living a life of luxury abroad, while Drin Ahmeti, the nephew of his “strong” uncle, Ali Ahmeti, has done so in this country and abroad. Drin Ahmeti doesn’t like Ferraris because he’s been spotted in a white Rolls-Royce with Kicevo licence plates worth around 400,000 dollars”, the coalition said on Thursday, reiterating that North Macedonia’s Prosecutor’s Office had requested legal aid from the US, too, over his “suspicious” financial transactions.

VLEN also stated that, on the other hand, common people had struggled to make ends meet as a result of DUI’s rule. In response, Drin Ahmeti refuted the accusations and asked for an apology.

“If there’s truth to this story, I challenge you to secure clear and irrefutable evidence, photos, a licence plate number, reports by eyewitnesses or any other legitimate documentation, to confirm your claim. Spreading such lies are both harmful to my reputation and wrong before the public. I ask that you urgently withdraw your statement and formally issue a public apology”, he noted, adding that if that was not done in a timely fashion, he would be left with no choice than to use all available legal remedies.

According to Drin Ahmeti, it’s unethical and irresponsible to make unfounded statements “in an attempt to divert attention from any shortcomings or failures by the ruling coalition”.

He also called on VLEN to focus on “constructive dialogue and factual discourse”.

The story about the Rolls-Royce Phantom with Kicevo licence plates was part of the KOD (CODE) show’s investigations over the Zajas Family Tree case, Telma said in its report yesterday.

According to information published in February 20203, the vehicle was registered to a company owned by the brother of Selaudin Arifi, an in-law of Ali Ahmeti. The vehicle was then sold in Tetovo and got Tetovo licence plates. In North Macedonia, the Rolls-Royce had first been owned by Gabriel Bajram, City of Skopje Council member and son of late politician Amdi Bajram.
