This week, VLEN is starting the procedure, according to the law, for the coalition to be transformed into one party. A presidency will be chosen that will later on make the decisions.
That will be followed by a statute commission, as well as by a congress session, where a formal decision will be made to include the name of the new party in the Central Registry.
When it comes to the issue of whether Arben Taravari will continue to be part of the cabinet, the Government has said PM Hristijan Mickoski is planning to meet the Health Minister in around two weeks. However, VLEN co-leader, BESA leader, and Tetovo Mayor Bilall Kasami stated on Tuesday that everyone collaborating with DUI and Ali Ahmeti couldn’t be part of the ruling coalition.
This past weekend, Taravari had said he no longer saw room for further collaboration with VLEN. His Alliance for Albanians wing will have its own list of candidates for council seats in the local elections. However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of joining forces with DUI in the second rounds of mayoral races.
When it comes to whether he will continue to be part of the Government, Taravari stated that the final decision would be made at the meeting with Mickoski.
“I haven’t met with Ahmeti. I’ve talked to him on the phone. In principle, I think we should participate on our own, but I am not ruling out DUI and us supporting one another in some municipalities in the second round. We were not born in the Government building. If they think we should be part of it, we will continue. If not, we will be in opposition. Generally speaking, we’re interested in continuing to be part of the cabinet. It depends on the PM”, he underlined.
