Waste Situation: Extraordinary Inspection Supervision over Work of Arsovska and Rustemi

Extraordinary inspection supervision activities have started over the work of outgoing Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska and Communal Hygiene PE Director Sabahudin Rustemi in relation to the major waste issues in the capital.

The decision is being executed by the State Communal, Sanitary and Health, and Environment Inspectorates, as well as by the Public Health Institute, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry. The Government stated in Tuesday’s press-release that though the situation was alarming, the City of Skopje hadn’t taken action in continuity, which was why the aforementioned institutions were acting upon conclusions at the Government’s session.

The Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, too, is taking actions to secure evidence of potential crime. However, Arsovska stated that the latest developments represented “political persecution” and that the representatives of VMRO-DPMNE and VLEN had obstructed the Communal Hygiene work through the President of the PE’s Managing Board, Julijana Spirovska.
