There will be no leaders’ meeting between PM and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovacevski and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski at which they will try to agree on the dates of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
That will be done by an inter-party group in Parliament. The proposal came on Friday from Kovacevski. Kovacevski still considers that elections should be held in the so-called regular period, but the dates should be discussed.
The Cabinet of Mickoski, who proposed and insisted on a leaders’ meeting, confirmed for Sitel that the proposal was acceptable in the name of a constitutional crisis being avoided.
“We’re not planning to get stuck in a fight of vanities,” VMRO-DPMNE said, adding that it was important to make key decisions to prevent the country from facing both “an acute economic” and a constitutional crisis.
