Тhe Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia started his official visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday. “The European Parliament is drafting a resolution on Macedonia that is to be discussed in August. We are finally opening the doors of Europe. I am here to seek for EP’s support, an institution that has produced principled support for our European aspirations over the years,” said Dimitrov. During the afternoon, Dimitrov had meetings with MEPs Ivo Vajgl and Arnaud Danjean, and in the evening he also met the leader of ALDE Guy Verhofstadt, the President of the European green Party Reinhard Butikofer, the head of the Group Friends of Macedonia Hans van Baalen, the president of the European Socialists Party Sergei Stanishev and the Vice-President of the European Parliament Andrey Kovatchev. At these meetings, Dimitrov spoke about the conclusions of the European Commission about Macedonia’s progress towards EU membership.
