PM Zaev on Referendum and other Pressing Issues

PM Zoran Zaev expects the process around the date, question and character of the name referendum to be encircled by the end of this week. “We expect as political leaders and representatives of political parliamentary parties to define these issues as deadlines are piling if we wish to choose 23 September or 7 October as projected dates,” said Zaev. Talks on the law on funding political parties continue as well as the SEC formation, according to Zaev. He said the demand of the opposition for early parliamentary elections should be considered before talking about NATO and EU membership if this guarantees the successful referendum process i.e. if the opposition has new ideas. He did not exclude convening a leaders’ meeting in case work groups fail to reach agreement on the issues by the weekend.
