VMRO-DPMNE Leader Mickoski’s Bodyguard Suspended from Interior Ministry

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski’s bodyguard, who, as an off-duty cop, attacked a police officer at 4 am on Sunday, has been suspended. Caretaker Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said on Monday that the Internal Affairs Department’s procedure had finished.

However, as he pointed out, the bodyguard attacked the officer after the Interior Ministry members had completed the police operation, unlike the information presented on Sunday, according to which the bodyguard stopped the officer from entering first by verbally attacking him and then by doing so physically, despite the warnings that official activities were underway.

The person will be suspended until an effective verdict is reached in the frames of a procedure ordered by a public prosecutor.

“I hope criminal charges will be filed today,” Toskovski added. Additional Deputy Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev called for the incident not to be politicised.

As he said, however, the officer prevented a fellow cop from carrying out official activities. Later that day, the Skopje Prosecutor’s Office said it had received the criminal charge and was taking action.
