Bulgaria’s Zaharieva Underlines Importance of Good-neighbourly Relations

According to Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, good-neighbourly relations are a fundamental European condition and criterion for EU membership. She adds that Skopje has to comply with and implement its treaty with Sofia. The Goce Delcev issue, Zaharieva points out, is one of the many that should be resolved. “We appealed for us to return to implementation of the deal many times,” the Bulgarian politician stresses, adding that there are already contacts between the Joint Commission members. However, she states that the Commission’s work was suspended unilaterally a year ago by Skopje.
